Quote:is that the Waverly in the background? Called into a friend near Gourock and that ship went passed

No. Waverley has two funnels red/white/black and plies the Clyde - open sea waters - see pic below at Campbeltown 24 June'18

Fixitsan's pic is at Balloch on Loch Lomond, an inland freshwater loch, of the Maid of the Loch.

After one of the bulbs fell into the headlight and one dimmer than other changed headlight bulbs - definitely brighter than standard - Osram NIght breakers - thought it a good price

Had my '02 niner mot'd today. Passed with no probs.

The bike never ceases to amaze me.Amongst other incredible stats,(which I'm sure others will have experienced),I've never had to replace any bulbs and only got a second battery last year. The original would still be going had I not left it too long without use.

The guy before me at the mot station asked if I wanted to sell it but was put off by my 10k asking price.

Changed oil & filter.

And after a wait for shims got the valve clearances done.

After it warmed up it spat some coolant outer the overflow. Think I may have got the two small pipes near the rad filler the wrong way round, but I wouldn't have thought it mattered.

Had a test run today - and it seems ok. No leeks yet.

Yep, it matters. Swap em and it'll stop ejecting fluids.

Ok ta.

I did swap the pipes.

Does one go to expansion bottle?

Tuther to cold start?

Why does it matter?

And which ones which?

Thanks for comments.

The upper one goes to the expansion bottle, the lower one to the cold start unit.

Made the same mistake once.

Waiting for a traffic light the coolant dripped down :hide:

More a lurker than a poster, but, done oil filter, oil, air filter. Then bodged up brackets for hand guards. She’ll be due a wash tomorrow.

Done nothing on the TDM, but fixed a puncture, and replace a spoke on my lads KX85, The tyre wasnt too bad to take off, getting it back on was a challenge, but i was determined not to take it to the bike shop, and get fleeced.

This weekend - new rear tire,  oil and filter change, new plugs and a good clean so she's almost ready, a good job too cos the rear brakes started to rattle on the car today and i wont get to them till next weekend Smile

Next weekend will hope to put new coolant in the tdm and take her for a nice long ride  :clapping:

New rear brake pads on the 9er, I think I set som ekind of record having ~0.1mm left on the pads without scraping the disk  Lol

Quite a job cleaning the piston before squeezing it back in,though...

Added some air to the tyres (does it evaporate?) and had a steady ride in the local countryside dodging a myopic Magoo in their Kangoo.

I think pore size is somewhere between air molecules and sperm, yes :-)

Oil change yesterday, always an experience.

All previous bikes: "Check oil before riding".

TDM: "Ride before checking oil"

All previous bikes: Undo filer cap, undo sump plug, drain oil, unscrew filter.  Replace sump plug, screw in new filter, fill with oil (2 minutes). Thirty minute oil change.

TDM:  Undo filler cap, undo engine drain plug, undo oil tank drain plug, undo five allen screws, remove filter cover, replace filter, replace o-rings. Replace filter cover, replace drain plugs and spend the next ninety minutes dribbling oil into the engine.  Two hour oil change!

Any hints on speeding up this process?

It's a good thing I love this bike so much but it is more maintenance than a mistress!

Stand your new oil in hot water (still in the can) for half an hour before pouring. It'll make it much thinner and with a funnel will only take 5 mins to fill....or use the hour it usually takes to eat cake....
