Welcome to Carpe, Vlad. Both bikes look good. You'll get used to Wicky, eventually - he's Irish, so the wiring is a little different...

...which makes him sometimes strangely psychic

Afternoon all,

Vince here, brand new member so please be gentle.
Ride a 2003 900, sort of blue-y colour (moonstone?), live North Notts, work Nottingham, play anywhere.
Also own CB500s in blue.
So, if you see me around, give me a wave.
Oh, before I forget, occassionally see a grey/yellow 850 some mornings on the commute. Anyone here?

vinny

&gt;&gt;&gt; INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE &lt;&lt;&lt; - pdxharris - 16-07-2008

I posted this elsewhere, before I found The Introductions...

Hey all,

I'm a brand new rider, literally just started riding motorcycles in early 2008. AND super spoiled? I just bought a 1992 TDM here in the Pacific Northwest. Which is amazing and exciting, I learned about these amazing bikes from an instructor in a riders class... and became mildly obsessed.

Now I'm in this situation where I'm very excited and pleased to be owning a TDM, but also mildly overwhelmed, and maybe slightly intimidated? Anyways, I want to learn all the valuable, and practical wisdom that i can regarding TDM riding, mods, maintenance, etc.

All that to say... 'Hi' and please, help a newb!

Cheers,

Sean

Welcome to Carpe Sean and well done on your choice of bike! That's a nice part of the States you're in, I've got family out in Ocean Park. Nice biking roads out that way.

&gt;&gt;&gt; INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE &lt;&lt;&lt; - pdxharris - 16-07-2008

Thanks for the greetings. I'll have to get some pics posted up later today. Any other TDM owners in the NW?

&gt;&gt;&gt; INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE &lt;&lt;&lt; - tdm850rider - 16-07-2008

You will probably find the most TDM's in California, other than that we are spread out over the map.
Closest TDM's to me are approx 250 miles away... I like my space!

Welcome to Carpe.

&gt;&gt;&gt; INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE &lt;&lt;&lt; - Gumnut - 20-07-2008

Hi this is Dick from Mannum in good old South Australia. I have a TDM 900 2002 model which I have had since new. what a fantastic bike!
The ride between Mannum and Adelaide which I make regularly takes me through the Adelaide hills and some tight turns and steep climbs. Each time I try to shave a few minutes of my time. I guess that cant go on for ever
I change the oil and filter every 5000 km which has got to be the most messy experience in mechanical history. i usually end up with oil everywhere except down the seemingly impossibly small hole provided. Have tried a various collection of funnels, tubes and hoses but nothing seems to overcome the problem of air locks etc. Last time I used Bel Ray Thumper oil and now the oil level light comes on for the first few mins of riding before going off. The dealer suggested I add a trifle more oil to bring the level up. That made no difference. Besides I never spilled that much out of a 4ltre container. Unless of course the container never had 4lires in it to start with which is likely since it came from America.
Anyway I am looking forward to learning heaps of good stuff from fellow TDM owners and maybe even meeting some.

-Dick

Try an internet search (for Amazon.com or the like):
You want either the HAYNES or CLYMER manuals... The HAYNES manual is #3540
<i>'Yamaha TDM850 and TRX850 91 to 99 and the KTZ750 Super Tenere 89 to 95'</i>

&gt;&gt;&gt; INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE &lt;&lt;&lt; - Idunnit1 - 21-07-2008

Hi all,

Just thought I'd say a quick hello.........I have been checking this site on and off for a good while now but I have never said hello..............sorry.......I have a tdm850 which I got about this time last year. I wanted to spend some time on the bike before I posted here so I could give a better opinion...........and well........the tdm is fantastic. I have had a number of bikes before this and none make me smile as much. The only downside is the odd reliability problem. I have had a few probs over the year but I would still buy the same bike again.

Oh I am an all year round biker in scotland (aberdeenshire) which can test the bike fairly well..........not just reliablity but how well the bike does with the salt corrosion etc.

I love the bike too bits and look forward to many more years with it and now hopefully with other tdm members on this site.

Keep up the good work guys...........I have found LOTS of usefull info on this site and would stop here first for any help.

Cheers
