East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - Guest - 31-03-2008 <!--quoteo(post=74377:date=Thu 13th Mar 2008, 06:38 PM:name=trevini)-->QUOTE(trevini @ Thu 13th Mar 2008, 06:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->We are aiming to meet at the Lorry park in Bury for 10:30, have a chinwag, bacon butty and coffee. Leave around 11:00 following the route JG kindly sorted for us and finishing at Red Lodge for another chinwag, bacon butty and more coffee! For the guys in the Lowestoft area, if you want to meet up to ride over to Bury, I'm already meeting a couple of friends at the Mac Donalds roundabout at Beccles, aiming to leave there at 9:15(ish), so let me know and I'll make sure we wait for you.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Have we a conflict of times here? Either Landy and all will hang on for us or we set off a little earlier. Aiming to start leaving about 11:00 it is then. East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - Pepy27 - 31-03-2008 I'm still watching this thread hoping i don't get the call to work on Saturday. East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - jollygiant - 01-04-2008 Just checked the weather for sat on the Met office website and after being 11-15c and sunny all week its going to be 8c and cloudy for sat, Well that at the moment but as we know they could be wrong Well as long as it dosnt rain or snow we'll be ok East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - iand1947 - 01-04-2008 <!--quoteo(post=76846:date=Tue 1st Apr 2008, 08:01 AM:name=Jolly Giant)-->QUOTE(Jolly Giant @ Tue 1st Apr 2008, 08:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Just checked the weather for sat on the Met office website and after being 11-15c and sunny all week its going to be 8c and cloudy for Sat.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Metcheck agrees on cloudy, but says even colder with windchill: 3-6 degrees for the bulk of the day, and near freezing overnight, so keep an eye open if you're starting out early. East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - Guest - 01-04-2008 Bloody weather. Hope it's dry, don't mind the cold. If it's pissing down then the Domi's coming out to play. Misses might come to if I can get her out of bed early enough. If that is the case, then I'll be staying at home and doing some catching up on nuptials. I suggest we move the weekend to Tuesday and Wednesdays, cos they always seem to be good weather, stuff Sat and Sun, always bloody poor weather. East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - steve-evans - 01-04-2008 I hope it doesn't pee down coz I've got about 130 miles to 1st meeting point, don't mind cold but won't be there if we're likely to get heavy soaking East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - stormy - 01-04-2008 <!--quoteo(post=76899:date=Tue 1st Apr 2008, 05:48 PM:name=Saga Lout)-->QUOTE(Saga Lout @ Tue 1st Apr 2008, 05:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I hope it doesn't pee down coz I've got about 130 miles to 1st meeting point, don't mind cold but won't be there if we're likely to get heavy soaking <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> same for me/us, no point in getting piss wet through just for the sake of getting piss wet through. As I've said before, its my partner I'm looking out for. She is a new rider, but has limited experience of UK traffic conditions. As some have indicated here, there will be a slower group, so she is happy to join in that group. Maybe I'm being over protective, and she'll put us all to shame, knee down on roundabouts in the wet on opposite lock, , but ideally I'd like her to be able to enjoy this rideout in good dry conditions, enough that maybe she will want to join us again sometime. Think of it in reverse, your partner/wife/GF has just passed her test and has ridden twice, both times in the UK, and then she is invited to a run out with total strangers, on unfamilair roads, on a bike she has only ridden once, in a foreign country ......... wouldn't you be a bit "cautious"? Of course, she'll have to clean the bikes when she gets back anyway, before she cooks tea! But in any event, we'll be having a practice ride on the Friday afternoon to get her dialled in, and if she don't feel 100% happy, then she'll come as a pillion. (Still have to clean the bike though!) Over protective me? East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - jollygiant - 01-04-2008 <!--quoteo(post=76912:date=Tue 1st Apr 2008, 06:25 PM:name=stormy)-->QUOTE(stormy @ Tue 1st Apr 2008, 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Over protective me?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> WOAH there it wasn't meant like that. I wouldn't want to ride 150miles just to ride another 70 around in a big circle then another 150 miles back if it's chucking it down let alone being a new rider. I was actually refering to riding all that distance on your lurvley perpared bikes in the rain Cos I wouldn't ride me Gixer in the wet! Sorry I'll shut up now East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - TonyDevil - 01-04-2008 all fair points mike, i dont think you are being over cautious, trxs can be a handfull with their silly gearing mate has his test on friday, his TDM aint anywhere near finished (due to my work commitments ) so considering sorting TRiXy out for him to ride.... wonder what the insurance would be East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - stormy - 01-04-2008 <!--quoteo(post=76915:date=Tue 1st Apr 2008, 06:35 PM:name=Jolly Giant)-->QUOTE(Jolly Giant @ Tue 1st Apr 2008, 06:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->WOAH there it wasn't meant like that. I hope. Bikes can be cleaned, eventually! East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - iand1947 - 01-04-2008 B*****!!! Metcheck now says barely above freezing all day and getting below zero towards teatime East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - Guest - 01-04-2008 This is bringing back memories of riding down the Acle straight in freezing fog and having to stop to breathe on my visor to melt the ice so I could see! Lets hope it's not that bad on Sat! East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - sidestand - 01-04-2008 Aw, the weather will be fine by the weekend Stormy, is 9.00a.m OK to meet in the Peterboro' services - we'll be on sumthin black & yellow (weather dependent) One & a half hours to get down to Bury should be dead easy from there ! Tony - Don't forget the TDM bashplate, & I'll bring the Trixxie shock along fer swopsies Pict - I'll bring along the cash fer the Niner mirrors, so don't forget them This is going to be quite a good day East Anglian Meet - 5th April 2008 - danielcarway - 01-04-2008 Metcheck have been a bit crap just lately. You only have to look at the little weather icon animations on their forecasts, which are often wrong - rain picture when sunny and vice versa! I'm sure it'll be fine on the day. Probably not actually fine, but fine, if you know what I mean. |
