>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - JMT - 15-04-2008

Oop North, near York.

I did see a yellow 850 on the A19 the other morning, wonder if it was a member...

Welcome.

Hard vs soft luggage tends to be very much a personal thing. I had throw over panniers for a while but much prefer my current givi setup as I can lock them and leave them on the bike, I was always paranoid about leaving soft luggage on the bike even if I'd only stopped for a coffee. Others prefer soft luggage because when they take them off there's no scaffolding attatched to the bike (I have a givi wingrack, it's huge, I don't care). Some hard luggage racks are more descrete than others, a great set of photos of various luggage racks on a 900 here http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php?showtopic=7918.

1) Interesting - one of our former colleagues was in the traffic (bike) division and was obliged last year to back off from "fraternising" with the likes of us, despite being thoroughly professional at all times. No such unhelpful prejudice in your area, then?

2) Any chance of a linky there? Always worth spreading the word

3) Welcome, btw. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/drinks.gif[/img]

Welcome to Carpe, Steve. We are a very friendly helpful bunch.
I frequent UK Bike but I am not as prolific a poster there as I am here. Things are very quite there at present as the site is in morning following the death of the founder. " Ride Free Zombie"

hello steve,

welcome here. i like that you fraternise [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]. i know of some motorcycle police officers in germany that become "the enemy" when on their personal bikes [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] they have the advantage of knowing where the colleagues set the traps [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rotflmmfao.gif[/img]

please send my condolences to the other forum.

[img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/welcome.gif[/img] as a mod on UK bike you will no doubt recognise several of the names on here, myself included, non of us are inventive enough to come up with different user names. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - ChrisG - 21-04-2008

Best be is host them somewhere like photobucket and link them here with the img tags. You need you be a supporting member to upload photos directly to the forum

Supporting members are the only ones who can upload pictures directly,
others please use Photobucket or the like and link them from your post.

This is an example of a 'linked pic'

>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<< - Chatty - 28-04-2008

Hello to one and all. Just bought myself a 99 plate TDM 850 in gold and silver. She looks in great shape with only 12k miles on her, one lady owner as well....... [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif[/img] Had to sell my Caponord, XTZ750 and XR400 to get her, but looking very promising so far. Seems to be standard apart from a scottoiler and fender extender but we'll soon put a stop to that. Only two jobs so far, install the scottoiler correctly and mount my top box to the brab rail. The site looks great and I've been having a quick perusal to top up my shopping list:- GPS mount, power socket, stainless crash bars, aluminium panniers, spots......

I am also in the Big Trail Bike Club and have done a few trips with them. Will pass on anything useful that I find.

All the best

Chatty
