What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - wonkiwheel - 05-03-2017

Hello, new to the forum, ive had the much looked after tdm since october 2016. Been changing some suspension settings, playing with the co settings after removing the baffles, removing unwanted stickers and other tiddly nicnacs to suit my fat ass and incompetent riding style.

Anyway got down to some nitty gritty yesterday, id notice the throttle was either on or off when doing more delicate manoevers and it had started to annoy me especially when id go over a drain cover, so yesterday i altered the throttle cable at throttle body end and wow what a difference!!! Smooth light responsiveness!!!

Next job is to reattach the rebound adjusters in the forks as the former owner had installed hyperpro springs but someone had forgot to marry up the pins inside, .......now im a big fan of pogo sticks but not at 70mph please!!  :drinks:

HI, thanks, sorry for any misleading wording, i meant i adjusted the cable on the throttle body end, the furthermost forward adjustable one, i took the bottom nut quite away down to the bottom of the thread ( mine was almost at the top of the thread ) i probably have about less than a  quarter of the thread left. It definitely made a difference to sensitivity in operation. I also slackened the adjuster at the twisty end but that was before i messed with the other end, i reckon i can take up the slack on the twisty end now. Hope this helps.

Traded in the 2007 TDM for a brand new XTZ 1200 E. Haven't regretted it thus far although it is quite a bit of new stuff to get used to. Placement of switches (turn signal in particular) etc. The Yamaha dealer sold the TDM on in a flash. Some guy got really lucky.

Thanks for all the great tech tips and stories and all the great humor on this site. I've enjoyed it for six longand inspiring years. I hope you lot keep enjoying it!

Been riding the TDM to work all week and will be till october unless we get some stupid wet/cold weather  :good:

I recently picked up a mint 929 fireblade so I'll be riding that at the weekends  :badgerrock:

The wife was not impressed when she realised I wouldn't be selling a bike when another arrived  :rotflmmfao:

I stared at the empty space, where my Tiddy should be in the garage, and pondered as to whether I'm going to ask to buy it back from the insurer once they make me a settlement offer.

Highsided 3 fridays ago, and trashed the right sides plastics/fairing and various bits n bobs.

Bu£r!

Erm... bought another one! Smile

This will be my 5th I think. Was tempted by the NC750X this time (which were a lot cheaper than I thought they were), but a good bike at the right price came up, so decided to stick with what I know Smile

Finally fitted the EMC shock I have had rebuilt by Dunfermline M/c's, to the 850.

Then the rain came on heavily and I haven't managed to test it....job for tomorrow !

The sun came out I tested it out.

It's an amazing improvement over the standard shock. It rebounds steadily after bumps in the road and when coming out of high load bends.

Spring rate feels about right for me, sag of 35mm at the moment but might increase that....
