Ouch, did you do much damage to the bike?

Bike's fairly well scuffed on both fairings anyway (not by me), so I can't say. Cracked one plastic mount on the right side handguard, but nothing else.

Love the bike, but it is a bit heavy for 79kg me.

You can solve that problem with the liberal application of cake Smile

Went for a slippery road MOT.

Failed due to a broken rear number plate (slipped my mind)...and a binding front brake (recent seals so perhaps another bleeding will sort it out)

Just had a message saying my 2nd hand 900 mirrors are available for collection. Just as well because one of these 850 ones is only just hanging together with epoxy !

It depends on your fat/muscle ratio. Wink

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - fixitsan - 20-01-2017

Received a call from Dunfermline Motorcycles to say my EMC shock was ready for collection. Once again I can only give praise for what they've done (last year they rebuilt my standard 900 shock.)

I got this EMC (French apparently) shock in a box of spares with my recently acquired  mk2 850. It had lost it's gas but is apparently designed to be rebuilt.

The work carried out amounted to  drilling the . body and fitting a refilling valve, replacing the gas control valve with an Ohlins part, fitting Ohlins seals, and fitting a heavy duty CRF450 rose joint for the connection to the swingarm.

£115 including vat :good:

I know that some people would be desperate to repaint it.....but it's on the inside where the good stuff happens Wink

Mk2 went in for it's MOT retest and passed. All i had to do for the binding front brakes (new seals in November) was clean up the pad edges again (hazards of winter riding) and bleed the lines again. Now the pads pull off the discs cleanly.....

Have received the side panels/lowers which  AliG sold to me so I'm hoping to get those fitted in the coming days.

EDIT....fitted the fairing lowers. Had some of the yellow checker vinyl left over from the mk1 so made discs of that and applied it to the scratched area on each side.

Also fitted my old bar muffs. It's possible that I might be riding to York next weekend for a Bikes Against Bullies run, so my hands wimped out and demanded some windproofing  !

Looking good Fixitsan

I know they offer bugger all protection in an off. but for keeping hands warmer

Ski gloves are great ( using a £5 pair from Aldi at the moment )

Don't even bother with the heated grips

Cleaned a load of oil off the rear wheel & tyre sidewall after my Scotoiler feed pipe worked loose from the joint at the tee piece to my Henty dual feed oiler. Luckily I spotted it before it got bad. Replaced the silencer securing band on the RHS that was badly corroded and while it was off, stripped & cleaned up the rear caliper. the 6 months old piston was already starting to corrode. Bloody salt

Do you retain finer control of switchgear ?  When i think of ski gloves i imagine huge mittens !

What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today? - Andy25 - 21-01-2017

Yep total control . Was surprised myself but the pair I'm using are pretty thin and feel like they won't keep the cold out but are better than winter gloves costing £60 -£70

Like I say wouldn't want to come off wearing them.

Actually used them last month ( Dec ) was freezing cold left Dundee heading for Oban

Had to stop in Crieff to buy another pair of socks and thermal insoles but hands were fine

Normally on daily commute hands / fingers are starting to get numb and that's only 5 miles

Might actually buy a good pair before end of winter as long as I don't crash I'll be fine
