Good point well made, cannae find it now either, used to be a built in option. It has moved...or after having a good scour...mayhaps even disappeared. It is still possible to do it by the second method in the OP and we will update it Man welly. Right off for another look.

If there are any problems with the above system (its entirely possible), then alternatively you can paypal guinness@(NO SPAM)carpe-tdm.net .(remove NOSPAM bit)...and then notify me by PM and I'll enter yer membership manually. This is probably the best method if you want a multiple year membership.
There is no clicky thing for paypoop on Carpe at the moment, so you will need to login to your paypoop account and then send payment to the addy above. ........suddenly confronted with the apparent evidence that I hadn't 'topped-up' my supportive donation for some considerable time - (I'm amazed it's been THAT long!).......so willingly embarked on a voyage of contribution......
.....but NO! .......In common with others, it appears, I failed miserably.....
The first pathway suggested (My Controls"/"Option"/"Purchase Paid etc) I could not find anywhere...
and PayPal would not accept the address 'guinness@etc etc)
......so are we in 'glitch mode' or what am I misunderstanding?.........maybe call Wells Fargo?
