MZ Cobra - Guest - 02-08-2006 ![]() Right I have a pic so it does exist, but why can't I find out anything about it.......................anywhere. I have no intention of buying one, but I'm interested in it now and I won't be able to get it out of my system till I know more about it. MZ Cobra - nitram - 02-08-2006 Blimey that's a long swingarm Looks quite old styling on the fairing and seat unit, maybe 5 years or so, perhaps that's why you can't find anything? MZ Cobra - duibhceK - 02-08-2006 looks like a sports version of the MZ baghira. Haven't seen this particular model before though... MZ Cobra - wicklamulla - 02-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12886:date=Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 06:56 PM:name=duibhce Kaelann)-->QUOTE(duibhce Kaelann @ Wed 2nd Aug 2006, 06:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->looks like a sports version of the MZ baghira. Haven't seen this particular model before though...<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> well it has a TDM enjun and what looks like a stock TDM swingarm with the addition of a brace on top. Emmett i tink twas around in about 1996/97/98. Similar angle at Cobra 1 (scroll down) and of the other side at Cobra 2. Nothing else except that (obviously) it is/was an 850. Have sent an enquiry to w.jurgenson@william-jurgenson.com (the source of the first picture) in hope of further news. Sure - as soon as I hear anything (no response yet!) Meanwhile, maybe you'd like to check out Bill - he's a keyboard instrument maker with a side interest in bikes (shades of Yamaha Corporation origins here??). Go through "About Me" and scroll down to the bottom, where there's a link to a small video showing him on the track on one of his MuZ's, though nothing on the Cobra I think (I have a problem running it on my PC at the moment). MZ Cobra - LIAW - 03-08-2006 It would be a nice bike with out the fairing, have I ever mentioned before that I don't like fairings ?, blimey look how high the pillion pegs are. MZ Cobra - Guest - 03-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12938:date=Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 07:30 AM:name=laughin in a windstorm)-->QUOTE(laughin in a windstorm @ Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 07:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->It would be a nice bike with out the fairing, have I ever mentioned before that I don't like fairings ?, blimey <!--coloro:#FF0000--><!--/coloro-->look how high the pillion pegs are<!--colorc--> <!--/colorc-->.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> I think they fold down, I have no idea why I think this. It's just a feeling By the way, I think it'd look nice without the fairing too. MZ Cobra - LIAW - 03-08-2006 but surely your feet would slip off then. MZ Cobra - Guest - 03-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12955:date=Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 10:55 AM:name=laughin in a windstorm)-->QUOTE(laughin in a windstorm @ Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 10:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->but surely your feet would slip off then.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Without a fairing? Oh! You meant with the footpegs, a buddy of mine had fold away pillion foot pegs on some 125 2 stroke when I was a kid. Or maybe in a dream, or hallucination, You're probably right LIAW. MZ Cobra - wicklamulla - 03-08-2006 aye fold doon pillock foot pegs is what they look like to moi. the MT01 has them too..................... i like the MT01. MZ Cobra - Readmarx - 03-08-2006 Is there some sort of regular thing between MZ & Yam going on? The Baghira? Had a 600 XTZ engine? Wasn't there something else besides that? It's a nice idea though, kinda keeps the TRX thing going on. Actually if anyone's interested I'll see if I can get some pics of my mate Steve B's TRX. It was featured in MCN a while back and recently on fleabay; NWS frame, swingarm, GSXR front end, Maxton F&R, etc. I've been scrapping with him at trackdays recently and he pulls a 'kin great whellie on it too MZ Cobra - wicklamulla - 03-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12975:date=Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 05:39 PM:name=Readmarx)-->QUOTE(Readmarx @ Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 05:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Is there some sort of regular thing between MZ & Yam going on? MZ Cobra - tdm850rider - 03-08-2006 Wish I could see the other side.. If someone is parting out a MZ Cobra the pipes would probably fit without too much modification. Edit: But then again if MuZ quality is up there with Muz design...... (The Cobra was an anomaly, most Muz's are hideous.) MZ Cobra - Readmarx - 03-08-2006 Wick, you're a bigger nerd than I am You might be interested in the TRX stuff I mentioned above, too? MZ Cobra - Readmarx - 03-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12989:date=Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 06:03 PM:name=wicklamulla)-->QUOTE(wicklamulla @ Thu 3rd Aug 2006, 06:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->aye i am a nerd !! and i seen the TRX on ebay too...............huge munny spent on it !<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> He got it for £2750! It's a 'kin minter. First thing he did was put a load of old bodywork on it and give it a trash on the track. Even with the crap bodywork on it you can see the frame quality on it.... Lovely. I'll get some pics of it and post 'em up. MZ Cobra - LIAW - 04-08-2006 I had an MZ MASTIFF which was great fun (people used to smirk at it until they realised they couldn't keep pace with it while trying to put it down out on the road, the electrics left a bit to be desired though, they used something that must've been a mixture of thin bone china and paper mache for a fuse holder !), it is/was fitted with the YAMAHA 660cc engine, as was the BAGHIRA and SKORPION, the current APRILIA PEGASO is also fitted with a YAMAHA 660 engine, and funnily enough the current YAMAHA 660's are fitted with a YAMAHA 660 engine aswell. |
