Guide To Uploading Photos From A Computer - Studley Ramrod - 15-07-2020

Here's a pictoral guide to uploading photos from a pc.  Please bear in mind that a limit is in place for the size of pics/photos uploaded.  Supporting members get a 50MB total upload allocation so reducing the file size of pics/photos before uploading will mean you can upload more of them.

I always put the image on it's own line and any text goes above or below the image.

 

First thing to do when posting up is to click on the 'More Reply Options' button at the foot of the text box.

Then you need to select the Browse button

You'll then see the file system where you can search for the pics/photos you want to upload. Click on the image then select 'Open'

You'll see the name of the image at the foot of the text box.  Click on the 'Attach This File'

You'll then see a thumbnail image of your selection.  Place the cursor where you want the image to appear in the text box and then click on 'Add To Post'

You'll then see the text where your cursor was placed.  The image is now uploaded.  You can select 'Preview Post' at the bottom of the page to view the post with image.  Then simply click on 'Add Reply' or 'Post New Topic'.

Nice Juan SR very clear. If posting from tellingbone the procedure is pretty much the same but you will need to select "Full Version" at the bottom of the screen as a very first step.

Chaps i seem to be constantly getting "File is too big too upload" 671kb   been happening for awhile now, not changed any image sizes on camera settings or owt and specifically use me old phone for this reason, could always upload from PC before without having to resize at all, soooooo is it me or Carpe, dunno  :istupid:  :help:

Could be you is ooot of space dabs. I sometimes have to delete some of my cakey pics to free up some space.

When you click on More Reply Options when posting up, it should tell you at the bottom of the text box, how many MB you have and how much you've used.  Soooo, how much ya got left matey ?

671.06 kb it would appear, that' single max size, gonna look again.. yup that's right.

 

Right then it's cos i've uploaded 49+mb as a sportin i guess !  ran out now.. so will deleting photo's claw me some mb back ?

Yup, looks like you've used up most of the 50MB allowance Dabs. Not sure I can do anything about that as admin, if I upped your allowance I think I'd have to up all sportins allowance too.

I think you can still upload to the gallery, although it is a faff to do that then link to post. As Daps suggests, perhaps go through yer attachments an delete some no-so-important images to free up some space ?

 

I spend a lot of time using Paintshop Pro to reduce my images to around 120kb, right faff but means I get to post up more pics.

May be worth a mention that you can normally email a pic to yourself to reduce its size.

Yea cheers no problem, as you say it would'nt be fair to other sporting members just been playing with paint shop but bugger that lifes too short innit, interestingly when i posted photo's in the Destruction thread they were all  around 2-3 mb and were downsized automatically for me it seems, i'll get rid of some in the thread..

I usually just open pics in ms paint before posting or emailing and resize to 30% and save and they are still plenty big enough.

 Ah did'n see this before matey, but ewe is correct, as above will go the Gallery route as prefer not to delete from the thread, nowt so irritating as pics missing from a thread.

If you go through yer attachments, in yer My Profile, you might find quite a few pics that aren't really necessary and just delete from there mate.

Attachments are for ALL pics posted on the site.

Was messing around with paint earlier and used custom resize to 30% but my PC wont then save the resized pic, says format not recognised but it's the same as the original....jpg ?
